Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS) is Australia's foreign intelligence collection agency. The company collects and distributes secret foreign intelligence, information which would be otherwise unavailable to Australia, to protect Australia and its interests. They obtain this intelligence from foreign sources, outside Australia's borders. To do this, they rely on what they call "human intelligence" - information that comes directly from people.
You’ll start as a permanent employee. You’ll complete a rotational program to help you to learn about different parts of the Organisation that will give you a strong understanding of the business of intelligence. The types of rotations and training and development opportunities you complete will depend on which graduate stream you choose.
This year ASIS is offering three graduate streams:
Offering a rare chance to work within the Australian Secret Intelligence Service, ACTIVATE gives graduates on-the-job experience and training in one of the most unique, dynamic, and fast-paced workplaces in Australia. Over the course of the 12-month program, you'll learn how intelligence is gathered, reported, and actioned.
Unlike other graduate programs, you won't just be observing – you'll be using your skills to help support actual intelligence operations that advance Australia's national interest. Whether you're studying law, mathematics, arts, or accounting – ASIS is looking for ACTIVATE applicants with diverse skill sets from a range of academic backgrounds. This program is a rare opportunity to kick-start your career in intelligence.
As an ASIS officer, you’ll have access to competitive remuneration packages that include allowances to compensate for the obligations of maintaining a security clearance and working in a secure environment.
Working at ASIS isn’t just a great place to grow your skill set, it’s also an opportunity to broaden your understanding of the world, and Australia’s place within it. Whether you’re based in Canberra or posted overseas, the international focus of ASIS's work will see you interacting with people and cultures from across the globe.
