Norton Rose Fulbright is a global legal practice. We provide the world's pre-eminent corporations and financial institutions with a full business law service. We have more than 4,000 lawyers based in over 50 cities across Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America, Asia, Australia, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia

Wherever we are, we operate by our global business principles of quality, unity and integrity. We aim to provide the highest possible standard of legal service in each of our offices and to maintain that level of quality at every point of contact.

What we can offer you

Designed for penultimate-year law students, our Clerkship program is carefully curated by our dedicated people and development team to provide you with a taste of real life as a graduate at an industry-leading global law firm.

You will get first-hand experience of what it is like to work at a global law firm and build your relationships with our partners and employees across the firm in an environment that thrives on open communication and teamwork.

As a Clerk, you will be part of a 10-week program with two, five-week rotations. Our program is designed to ensure you have;

  • exposure to a variety of interesting and real legal work from key clients, with ongoing support from our partners and lawyers;
  • a comprehensive national induction program;
  • access to our award-winning Learning & Development programs;
  • involvement in an exciting national pro bono project;
  • The opportunity to build relationships with people across the firm through a variety of social events and become truly embedded in our firm culture.

We're proud that our National Clerkship Program has been awarded as one of the Australian Top Internship Programs by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers.

Our National Clerkship Program links closely with our National Graduate Academy and completing a clerkship allows you a direct opportunity to secure a graduate position with us in 2025.

What we look for

We value clerks who are energetic, driven and focused individuals with strong academic achievements and the ability to demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork and collaboration skills. In return, you will be rewarded with genuine career prospects and an excellent team environment renowned for its collaborative culture, passion for client service and professional development opportunities.

Our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Norton Rose Fulbright values diversity and strives to create an inclusive culture where all our people can bring their whole selves to work. We are committed to supporting the charities and causes our people care about and operate in an environmentally responsible way. We hold a Stretch level Reconciliation Action Plan and consider reconciliation and closing the social, economic and health gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians as an important issue for the Australian business community.

We are proud that Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia has been recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) as well as a silver employer for LGBTI Inclusion through the Australian Workplace Equality Index.

We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates to apply.

If you have the opportunity to do a graduate program, take it and try as many different areas as you can!  You may think you know what type of law you want to specialise in, but you never know what is out there unless you give it a shot.
