Recruitment Process

At Agonis Group we want to keep growing our company and bring on new graduates and engineers to thrive in our fantastic work environment. 

Candidates can expect a very friendly application process where they will be treated like a person and not a number. We believe in hiring people on their merit and in the way they conduct themselves. We do not have a formal graduate intake every year and we evaluate each person as they come.

The Application Process

  • Please send your CV and cover letter through our website on the careers page. Tick the disciplines that you are interested in or have experience within. If you have any trouble with this please contact
  • Once our team has reviewed your CV and cover letter, our general manager Mitch or one of our regional managers will reach out to you for a phone interview to try understand exactly what your experience has been and your career goals. This is a very friendly chat just to initially make first contact so please don't be alarmed or worried just be yourself!
  • After the phone interview Mitch will typically set up and meet and greet online with some of our younger engineers within the company and some of our stream leaders of each of our disciplines (typically two people will attend). This meet and greet will allow you to ask any questions and allow others within the company to show their experience and give you a taste of what it is like working at Agonis Group. Mitch does not join this call to really allow the candidate to make a connection with our current staff.
  • Finally, after this meet and greet Mitch and the board will come to a decision on employment or not. We ensure that the candidate will hear back from us and they will not be left without an answer. We do ask that candidates please be patient as it may take a few days to get back to you.

What our successful candidates have in common is a good work ethic and a willingness to learn. Working life compared to university life is a stepping stone and our young engineers are always willing to learn and try new things.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Agonis has such a breath of expertise, industries and services that our young engineers gain a heap of experience in different parts of the business. Some projects last for a few months and some take much longer which allows our graduates to gain vital knowledge within each different project. 

The Saplings

The successful candidates will be also placed in our young engineer group known as the Saplings. The Saplings get together bi monthly to discuss any opportunities, problems or other matters they are passionate about. Allowing them to have support within the business while also being able to catch up and see each other throughout the year. 

Career opportunities

  • Site experience - as much as possible!
  • Interstate travel for projects is dependent on the project and the person.
  • Team rotations when projects close and open.
  • Exciting project responsibility supporting an engineer or project manager.
  • Roles within large projects and organisations with support from Agonis while on a secondment.
  • Opportunity to understand the tender phase when project work is light on.
  • Ability to work on many projects in such a short amount of time.
